Assalaamu'alaykum,
Here is a good post about making one see what needs to be looked at with sincerity and without biasness, in order to come to the correct conclusion of and to the truth. InshaAllah.

Think
Ask yourself "How do I know this book I follow is truly the word of God? How can I tell which of the numerous "Holy Books" is the true word of God? Is my Holy book one of the false ones? How can I keep believing in a religion once I know for sure that its book is not Holy? How could this be the true faith while falsehood is so clear in it's book, a book full of erors, contradictions, and historical fabrications, written by the hands of men? How can I judge it fairly while I am biased towards it, and am unwilling to accept any criticism of it? Am I really looking for truth or am I truth's enemy?"
A "seeker of truth" needs to be clear sighted and fairminded and should posess at least a certain amount of intellect: an intellectual, scientific and attentive attitude, a desire to find the truth, no matter to me where it is, an an open mind, free of prejudice and bigotry.
A "seeker of truth" should fear falsehood, support the truth and make a firm commitment to it.
We should turn honestly and sincerely to our Lord, and seek His guidance in order to reach the truth. For without God's help and guidance, NO ONE WILL EVER FIND TRUTH.
To find the truth easily we should follow several simple rules. We should be truthful and sincere to search for truth itself and nothin else. We should constantly pray to God to open our hearts to truth, and not forget that our hearts are in His Hands. He can change what is in our hearts as He desires and knows what our hearts intend before our hands are even raised up to Him.
God knows when you are sincerely seeking the truth, and he can enlighten your heart and open it to the truth. AND HE KNOWS IF YOU ARE NOT, SO WILL DARKEN IT, PERHAPS BY BLINDING YOUR HEART.
How much will you regret having made the wrong decision, tomorrow, on the day of judgment, when God's judgment is passed upon you, and you are a loser. What will your reaction be?
Don't be deceived by the sweet words of others who hope to set your mind at ease by saying,"Wait for the Day of Judgment and we will see, or just have faith." These words are mere cop-outs of an underlyin situation to a no answer problem for them. Just Think!
