:salamalaikum:How arrogant we are

Yesterday, we were present in a Masjid where a scholar gave a very meaningful talk. He was saying that when we were babies, we had such little knowledge that we didn't even know who is our mother and who is our father. All the women and men looked the same to us. Then Allah gave us knowledge and strength. A time comes when our muscles become strong and we earn big degrees. At this point, most of us stand against Allah and challenge His knowledge. We mock at the Quran and go to such an extent that we deny the existence of Allah! So, Allah stretches our age to a length that we forget everything after knowing so much. Many old people don't even know what they are talking about. They don't even remember their grand children's names. This shows how we are nothing and Allah is able to do everything. Thus, we should always be mindful of our Lord and be dutiful towards Him.

There is a verse in the Quran which reflects the above story in a concise way

30:54
It is Allah Who created you in a state of (helpless) weakness then gave (you) strength after weakness then after strength give (you) weakness and a hoary* head: He creates as He wills and it is He Who has all knowledge and power.

*Hoary means: Showing characteristics of age, especially having grey or white hair

This verse in many ways gives other messages to us as well, for example:

- We are born - our parents take care of us

- We gain ability - our parents grow old

- We are old - our children grow up

So it is a cycle if you see the relation above - our parents take care of us when we are helpless
We should take care of them when they are helpless (old)
And then we grow old so our kids take care of us

And this cycle repeats over and over through the centuries!

The Prophet(s) said, he who found his parents in old age and failed to take care of them, is he who lost paradise.

Assalaamu'alaykum,

may Allah swt make me a good mom for my kids to want to look after me ameen!!!!!....I always tell them when they are angry with me or upset with me or just annoyed (they are entitled lol), but I usually start by just tapping my foot----they know this to mean the hadith I constant repeat to them LOL......."Paradise lies AT the feet of the mother"....soooo they just look at me and say grrrrrrrrrrrrr lol.......is kinda a neat tool if you teach your children, INSHAALLAH, to have the fear of Allah swt at young ages.

(I capitalized AT on account of the weak hadith "under" the feet....AT the feet is the correct hadith:)

May Allah swt let our children be good to us, learn from us, love us, teach us, and make dua for us after we pass~ ameen
