One
item of information about the Earth given in the Quran is
its similarity to the seven-layered sky:
 |
Al-Quran,
Chapter 65 At-Talaq, Verse 12 |
 |
|
 |
|
In
the Name of Allah, The Benevolent, The Merciful |
It is
Allah Who created the seven heavens and of the earth the
same number, the Command descending down through all of
them, so that you might know that Allah has power over
all things and that Allah encompasses all things in His
knowledge. |
 |
There are various models of the Earth's composition, the
most basic of these divides the Earth into 4 Main zones:
Inner core, Outer core, Mantle and Crust. (Figure 1) There
are further subdivisions in each of these zones known as
layers. Each layer has its own temperature and composition.
The information in the above verse is confirmed in
scientific sources, wherein it is explained that the Earth
consists of seven strata.
The truth of this similarity between the sky and the layers
of the Earth, only identified by 20th century technology, is
without doubt another of the Quran's scientific miracles.
